This recent project utilized very special high quality Alaskan Yellow Cedar from British Columbia. The client requested using only salvage or reclaimed lumber. After extensive searching we located these logs that were abandoned during a logging operation several years before.
Opening the logs revealed beautiful, mostly clear material.
The lumber was sawn and allowed to dry through one summer season. Moved into our shop, final dimensioning, layout and jointery cutout were begun.
The finishing touches: All surfaces are hand planned. The Yellow Cedar responds by springing to life with a lovely rich glow.
One minor framing unit is preassembled in the shop.
The major pieces are wrapped in paper protection, moved to the jobsite and assembled.
